Services for Undocumented Students has formed a partnership with the UC Immigrant Legal Services Center to provide FREE legal services for undocumented UC Merced students and their immediate family members.

 

What is the UC Immigrant Legal Services Center?

  • They provide FREE immigration-related legal consultations, Know Your Rights Workshops, and immigrant legal resources for UC Merced students and their immediate family members.
  • Available for current UC Merced undergraduate & graduate students.
  • Available for immediate family members (parents, siblings, spouses, and children) of currently enrolled UC Merced students.
  • The immigration attorney at UC Merced is Paloma Puerta 
    • Consultations for students can be done in-person at the Monarch Center 
    • Consulations for family members can be done on Zoom or in-person at the Monarch Center
  • Currently, funding is available for DACA renewals through Services Undocumented Students; please submit your request through our Student Success Fund request form.  
  • Types of cases they handle include but are not limited to:
    • DACA, advance parole, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status ("SIJS"), U visa, T visa, Violence Against Women Act ("VAWA"), family-based petitions, adjustment of status (i.e., green card applications), consular processing, naturalization, and Freedom of Information Act ("FOIA") requests
