Career Opportunities & Research Exploration (CORE)

CORE Program

CORE (Career Opportunities and Research Experience), formerly the Opportunities Fellowship Program (OFP), is a cohort-based program within the Bright Success Center that empowers UC Merced scholars to explore diverse career fields, with a strong focus on student and academic affairs. The program prioritizes supporting low-income, first-generation, and historically marginalized students, including students of color and those from underserved communities.

Through CORE, scholars engage in undergraduate research and experiential learning projects that promote academic, personal, and professional growth. Participants also enroll in a 1-unit course that connects their academic interests with real-world project goals and career pathways.
