Research Opportunities

STEM Resource Center

The STEM Resource Center is building an inclusive learning community to enhance the academic and social experiences of UC Merced undergraduates pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The center connects students to research and internship opportunities, academic success coaching, peer mentoring, and leadership development. It also hosts workshops on graduate school preparation, faculty networking, and skill-building for STEM careers.

Explore the variety of research opportunities available to undergraduate students and learn how to get involved with hands-on experiences that align with your goals.

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Center (UROC) supports UC Merced students—especially first-generation, undocumented, foster youth, and other underrepresented scholars—in discovering research pathways that advance their academic and career goals.

UROC offers a variety of programs designed to help students engage in research both during the academic year and over the summer. Through the Summer Undergraduate Research Institute (SURI), students gain hands-on experience, professional training, and mentorship under UC Merced faculty. Academic-year research and internship programs are also available, providing guidance in graduate school preparation and leadership development.

Many UROC programs are open to undocumented and DACA-eligible students. Participants receive mentorship, stipends, and opportunities to present their work at conferences or publish in research journals.
